I've learned so much and have grown a great deal as an artist since I published the first volume of Happyloo back in 2009. I've learned to view all comics, cartoons, and movies with my creative eye where I breakdown the meanings and elements of story, design, and layout. I've been greatly inspired and influenced by my friends in the kids comics industry. I am fueled by the belief in me from my loved ones. If you can't tell… I am SUPER excited about creating this new Happyloo book and there is a big smile on my face as I pencil and ink the pages. I'm even doubly excited to share my work with you and hopefully you will gain that same smile I have while creating this book. While you wait for Happyloo: Flying Colors, please join the My Pal Mark Fan Club for the latest news and a peak behind my creativity. click the logo below!

Mark Mariano, the creator of Happyloo and Flabbergast, will be doing his 24 Hour Comic Day on Sunday October 7th. He had originally had it scheduled for the 6th, but due to sudden family obligations, it will now take place on the 7th.
What is 24 Hour Comics Day? Cartoonist and comic theorist Scott McCloud created this day in which comic creators challenge themselves to complete 24 pages of comics in 24 hours. Mark will be broadcasting all 24 hours LIVE as he creates at his drawing desk. He invites viewers to tune in right here on www.MyPalMark.com any time of the day and join the chat room to cheer him on, ask questions, witness his creative process, or just keep him company. All the fun starts Sunday October 7 at 6am and runs until 6am Monday.
Mark will be creating TWO 12 page issues of ESCAPE INTO COMICS for his 24 Hour Comics Day. As he finishes the pages, they'll be posted to www.facebook.com/MyPalMarkFanClub if you share 12 of these pages on your facebook timeline/page, Mark will mail you one issue of ESCAPE INTO COMICS. If you share all 24 pages, you'll get BOTH issues in the mail! Wow! That's easy! Join the My Pal Mark Fan Club Page today and prepare to share!
Tales From the Table: NYCC 2012
by Mark on October 18, 2012 at 4:09 pmOverall it was an exciting time at the New York Comic Con. It got a little frustrating when tired con goers decided to rest and camp out right in front of our booth. But being there with the awesome Comic Book Diner crew of John Gallagher, Rich Faber, Jamar Nicholas, Thom Zahler, and my brother Chris, it was nearly impossible NOT to enjoy the day.
I did a TON of art cards that I'll be adding to the flow on my Facebook fan club page. Some very interesting requests came from my good friends at Unwinnable.com
Here's a pic of me and Shredder!
Busy Year Ahead!
by Mark on February 1, 2013 at 2:31 pmWelcome 2013! I've updated my tour schedule on the side bar. Chris and I will be at over a dozen conventions. I'm excited to announce that I have EIGHT books that will be published this year. On top of that, my convention table will have a new look and set up. So, as you can see, I've been a very busy cartoonist. Here's a peak at my release list for the next two years.
Rock & Read is Publish-ready!
by Mark on February 7, 2013 at 5:25 amThe O>Matics: Rock & Read ran on mypalmark.com from June 15, 2011 to May 23, 2012. Of course it's still viewable starting right here. We wanted to release the book along with a CD of music, but busy schedules are pushing back studio time. I'm much too proud of this book to have it wait on the shelf any longer. Rock & Read will come out early this year and songs will be released when they're ready.
I'll be shopping the book around to publishers first before I turn to self-publishing. So if you're a publisher and interested, email me at mypalmark@aol.com.
Here are a few shots I took for the copyright page of the book.
As I was grocery shopping at my local Shop Rite, I came across something awesome in the frozen foods section… a display of Little Golden Books. One in particular jumped out at me. DC Super Friends: Batman! written by Billy Wrecks, features fantastic art by Ethen Beavers. I loved the art so much, that Little Golden Book ended up in my shopping cart.
