Christmas was simply wonderful this year. The biggest gifts I got were U2 tickets, the complete Calvin and Hobbes and my current addiction, A Boy and his Blob. This Wii game is a re-imagining of the 1989 NES classic. It’s a sweet platform/puzzle game about a boy, and his blob who changes into different useful items when fed jelly beans. There’s the tangerine trampoline, apple jack, and the licorice ladder just to name a few. The best things about the game is that it has that “old school” feel and its look was definitely inspired by the films of Hayao Miyazaki (Spirited Away, Ponyo.) The unlockable behind-the-scene content is fantastic as well. It’s always cool to see the art development of a great video game. I’m not as much of a gamer as I used to be. I just don’t have the time, but I’ll make time for this game. How can you go wrong with a game with infinite lives?
