4PM – PANEL PARTY WITH FUSION FORCE: CHRIS GIARRUSSO AND MARK MARIANO
The cartooning tag team Fusion Force cordially invites you to the Panel Party, where your imagination, storytelling ability, and art skills will be welcomed and celebrated. Simply put, we are going to have a blast making comics together! Warning: attending this party may result in you throwing your own Panel Party at home!
5PM – DRAW A LITTLE DREAM HOSTED BY CHRIS O>MATIC WITH KURT WOOD AND JUSTIN CASTANEDA
Chris O>Matic interviews kids and parents about their strangest dreams. Professional artists bring their dreams to life on the drawing board.
6PM – SAY YES TO CAPES (OPEN TO FIRST 20 KIDS)
Capes are making a comeback and you can design and personalize your own cape in this workshop. Foam masks will also be provided so you can continue the convention in costume. Recommended for kids 6-12.
12PM – ALIEN ART WITH DAWN GRIFFIN
The Kids Zone will be transform into an alien factory when cartoonist Dawn Griffin shows you easy ways to draw wacky aliens.
1PM – KIDS COSTUME CONTEST HOSTED BY CHRIS O>MATIC
Calling all kids 12 and under! Dress as your favorite character from comics, movies, cartoons, books, or whatever your imagination can devise! The top three best costumes will surely win a prize!
2PM – PAPERCRAFT MADE EASY WITH SCHOLASTIC AUTHOR DAVID LANDIS (OPEN TO FIRST 40 KIDS)
No tape! No glue! No knives! Using only colored pencils and scissors, you will draw your own 2D art and convert it into elegant and fun 3D paper sculptures.
3PM – MARK MARIANO PRESENTS SCRIBBLE SCRAMBLE!
Eight artists chosen from the crowd compete in a series of quick-thinking drawing quests for the ultimate prize: The Scribble Scramble Championship belt. Your doodling destiny awaits.
4PM – CREATE YOUR OWN SUPERHERO SYMBOL WITH CAROLYN BELEFSKI
Every hero needs a logo! Many superheroes have personal branding on their outfits and My Little Pony characters even have cutie marks! Join artist and designer Carolyn Belefski and learn how to incorporate graphic design elements to create an icon and establish your own powerful visual identity.
5PM – JUGGLING AND CIRCUS ARTS PLAYSPACE
This is an all-ages-friendly open workshop and playspace for anyone who wants to learn how to juggle, practice their art, show off a bit, or just get some play time. Use our toys or bring your own. Just take care of each other. Under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
12PM – LET’S GO LEGO! WITH JOHN GALLAGHER
Cartoonist John Gallagher teaches you how to draw Lego versions of your favorite characters.
1PM – INTRO TO SPELLS FOR YOUNG WITCHES AND WIZARDS
Our magic instructors teach lessons in spells to prepare students for the Academy of Witchcraft and Wizardry. This guided imaginative play session engages young fans in the magic of the Harry Potter books. No previous experience reading the books or seeing the films is necessary. They will surely be excited to dive in after this 1 hour session! Brought to you by The Group That Shall Not Be Named, Inc. Recommended for ages 8-16
2PM – SUPERHERO UNIVERSITY WITH CHRIS O>MATIC AND FRANCO (OPEN TO FIRST 50 KIDS)
You won’t be able to fly and it won’t give you super powers, but you will learn all the ins and outs of superheroics from the industry’s top professors. PLUS you’ll have fun making your own cape and superhero mask! Come to this workshop as a kid, leave as a superhero!
3PM – MAKING MINI-COMICS WITH LAURA LEE GULLEDGE
Learn how to write and draw your very own comic. Once you make one, nothing will stop you from making another one and another one and another one and another one. Soon you will be a mini-comic publishing company!
